SPORTING PARADISE NEWS: HUNTING & FISHING REPORTS AND LODGE DISCOUNTS
According to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, many birds are in high number this year. Last fall's Kansas bobwhite quail harvest was the highest recorded in the country! This year is to be one of the best too. All populations of geese common to Kansas, with the exception of EPP geese, are at or above their population objectives. Kansas reported the second highest pheasant harvest among all 50 states in 2017 and is expected to still have one of the best pheasant populations in the country this fall. The highest densities of pheasants will be found in this area compared to other areas of the northwest region. The Rio Grande subspecies of turkey dominates the western two-thirds of Kansas. The selective management program for white-tailed deer has created a healthy deer herd, with excellent potential for trophy-sized bucks. There is also duck, dove, greater prairie chicken, coyote, rabbit, skunk, raccoon, and squirrel hunting.
Catch Bass, Bluegill, and Catfish right on the property of the Sporting Paradise Lodge. White Bass numbers are strong at all three of the closest lakes, Kirwin, Glen Elder, and Harlan County. Large Mouth Bass and Wiper fishing is good at Kirwin. Catfish is good at both Glen Elder and Harlan. Additional fishing includes Walleye, Crappie, and Black Bass.
Periodically, there may be discounts offered for your stay at Sporting Paradise Lodge, which will be listed in this section of the website. Military Veterans will always receive a discount and Wounded Warriors get a special discount.

"We stayed at this lodge for our family reunion. The kids loved fishing in the pond from the dock and the little boat. The place is beautifully landscaped. My mother and I enjoyed our walks. It was very peaceful. The guys had a great time watching sports and having a couple of drinks."
Tammy Edwards, Kansas City, Kansas
A friend of mine knows the owner and said this area has the best deer hunting around and he was right! A group of us came from all over the US to stay there. This place had everything we needed. We had fun catching up with old friends and bagged our limit in deer.
Jim Randall, Phoenix, Arizona
Our company needed a place for our construction crew to stay for a few weeks. It was a short drive to where they were working in Nebraska and they could relax and unwind here. I highly recommend this place.
Mike Johnson, Saint Louis, Missouri
My wife and I and another couple stayed here for three days. Everyone liked the patio with a fireplace. The women liked visiting some tourist spots while my buddy and I fished and hunted turkey. There was a lot of area we were allowed to hunt.
